Since each piece of pottery is handmade, there will be individual differences.

Medium size, recommended for one-plate meals.

The rim is approximately 30 mm wide and gently slopes, making it suitable for small amounts of liquid.

It can be used in a variety of situations, such as salads and baked goods.

This dish was made using a technique called "neriage."

The front and back have the same pattern, which is a characteristic of the "neriage" technique.

It looks similar to slipware, but whereas slipware has patterns added later,

Neriage is a puzzle-like technique in which clay of different colors is combined to create patterns.

Therefore, the back side has the same pattern as the front side.

Profile of Tatsuyuki Kawai

Tatsuyuki Kawai trained at Iwai Kiln in Tottori Prefecture and currently makes pottery at Sarukoda Kiln in Shiga Prefecture.

They create tableware with an awareness of the concept of "beauty of utility," which is the idea that tools are only beautiful when they are used.

The Mingei Movement sought to discover the beauty of folk arts and crafts by unknown craftsmen and to introduce them to the world.

A folk art and ceramic artist of Kiyomizu ware, whose great-granduncle was Kawai Kanjiro, whose activities were furthered by Muneyoshi Yanagi and Kanjiro Kawai.
